Maremma Park: Nature, Culture, and Adventure Through Unique Events

The Maremma Park is offering a series of unique events for the autumn-winter season of 2024, providing a wide range of activities for those wishing to explore nature and deepen their knowledge of the territory. Here are the main events scheduled:​

November

The Wolf Trilogy: Biology and Conservation of the Wolf, the Challenge of Coexistence
On Saturday, November 16, the first appointment dedicated to the wolf will take place with Professor Emeritus Luigi Boitani, an internationally renowned expert. This is an opportunity to learn more about the biology and conservation dynamics of this fascinating predator. Before the meeting, a short excursion “On the Tracks of the Wolf” will be held. 2:00 PM: meeting for a short excursion departing from the Visitor Center. 4:30 PM: conference with final toast and video projection of photos of the wolf in the Maremma Park taken by photographer Alberto Pastorelli.

Presentation of the Book “A Walk with Nerino in the Maremma Park”
On Sunday, November 17, it will be possible to participate in the presentation of Elisa Cherubini’s book, which accompanies visitors on a narrative walk through the wonders of the park. Meeting at 10:00 AM at the Alberese Visitor Center. Ticket: €15 per family unit

Birdwatching in the Park
Finally, on Sunday, November 24, bird lovers can take part in a birdwatching session in the Park, an activity always much appreciated by birdlife enthusiasts. Meeting at 9:00 AM at the Visitor Center. Tickets: €15 full price, €10 reduced (children aged 6 to 14 and students up to 25 years).

December

The Wolf Between Imagination and Reality: False Beliefs, Social Conflicts, and Real Risks
December opens with the second meeting dedicated to the wolf of the trilogy, with Giulia Bombieri, zoologist, researcher at MUSE Science Museum of Trento, and Laura Scillitani, zoologist and science communicator at MUSE, Science Museum of Trento, on Sunday, December 1. Before the meeting, a short excursion “On the Tracks of the Wolf” will be held. 2:00 PM: meeting for a short excursion departing from the Visitor Center

Gregorian Chant at San Rabano
On Sunday, December 8, the Maremma Park will offer a more spiritual experience where participants can experience a moment of peace and reflection accompanied by ancient religious chants in the suggestive setting of the abbey. Meeting at 9:00 AM at the Visitor Center. Tickets: €15 full price, €10 reduced (children aged 6 to 14 and students up to 25 years).

Another unmissable event will be The Winter Sea: A Walk Between Science and Poetry on Sunday, December 15. This event combines the charm of the winter marine landscape with the beauty of words, offering a journey through nature and culture.

Meeting point: Alberese Visitor Center at 8:30 AM (Via del Bersagliere 7/9), departure at 9:00 AM.

Route: A4 Cala di Forno.

Tickets: €15 full price, €10 reduced (for children aged 6 to 14 and students up to 25 years)

On Saturday, December 21, the final event of the trilogy dedicated to the wolf will be an engaging conference titled From Kevin Costner to Riccardo Milani – Never Cry Wolf with director, journalist, and film critic Mario Sesti.

Before the conference, there will be a short excursion “On the Tracks of the Wolf.”

  • 2:00 PM: Meeting for the short excursion, departing from the Visitor Center.
  • 4:30 PM: Conference with a final toast.

Festivities

For those looking to get back in shape after the Christmas feasts, on Thursday, December 26, the activity “Christmas Aftermath: Shedding the Excesses of Christmas Lunch” will be organized. This walk is designed for anyone wanting to regain energy with a healthy stroll through the park.

  • Meeting Point: Alberese Visitor Center at 9:00 AM (Via del Bersagliere 7/9)
  • Departure: 9:30 AM

Tickets: €10

The year concludes with a new opportunity for birdwatching enthusiasts: on Sunday, December 29, an additional Birdwatching Session will be held in the Park.

  • Meeting Point: 9:00 AM at the Visitor Center.

Tickets: €15 full price, €10 reduced (for children aged 6 to 14 and students up to 25 years).
