Visiting the Maremma Park accompanied by a guide means making an “enhanced” visit, so to speak. In fact, a guide explains what you are seeing, and tells you about the nature and history of the places. In fact, it often makes you see more, because it knows how to make you notice even what you wouldn’t notice on your own: rocks, unusual plants, birdsong, traces of the passage of animals, signs of the passage of man. It answers your questions at any time, satisfying every curiosity. He knows how to convey his enthusiasm and passion for this extraordinary territory to you. And of course, it always guarantees you a safe visit. Whoever accompanies you is in fact an “environmental hiking guide”, a figure who has been specially trained and who has passed an exam certified by the Tuscany Region.
To find out when you can take a guided tour you can contact the Visitor Center or the Park’s online calendar.
From 15 June to 15 September, the Maremma Park offers a full calendar of guided excursions, for all abilities and all interests. In this period, when there is a high risk of forest fires, some paths can only be followed if accompanied by an environmental hiking guide. In this case the cost of the guide is included in the entrance ticket.
In other periods, you can always contact the Visitor Center for a guide, which is mandatory for groups of 20 participants and up (for a maximum of 40). The guide is paid by the group, which however benefits from a discounted park ticket.
All year round, any environmental hiking guide in possession of a regular license can accompany his group on the Park itineraries from 8.30 am until one hour before sunset, upon reservation at the visitor center at booking@parco-maremma.it.
