In fondo si scorge a tratti il fianco delle colline dell\\u2019Uccellina, dove si giunge in corrispondenza del ponte delle tartarughe. Si attraversa qui il canale dello Scoglietto, scavato all\\u2019epoca della bonifica e oggi trasformato in una palude lunga e stretta, brulicante di vita.<\\\/p>\\r\\n<p><br>Ci si incammina qui in direzione del mare, su un terreno formato durante il Rinascimento, per una passeggiata nel tempo fino all\\u2019epoca dei nostri nonni, quando la pianura ha smesso di avanzare. Passato un cancello, il sentiero continua costeggiando il canale dello Scoglietto-Collelungo. A sinistra, la piana si allarga fino a quella che un tempo era una scogliera sul mare, oggi in buona parte coperta dalla vegetazione mediterranea e diventata la casa di molti rapaci, fra i quali il falco pellegrino. Di fronte invece \\u00e8 la parete di una rupe calcarea con la torre di Castel Marino sulla cima la. La pianura \\u00e8 una \\u201cserrata\\u201d, cio\\u00e8 un pascolo chiuso, con grandi ginepri e grandi pini sparsi nell\\u2019erba alta, simili ad acacie: sembra una savana africana, con le maremmane al posto degli elefanti e degli gnu.&nbsp;<\\\/p>\\r\\n<p><br>Proseguendo, la pianura si restringe e il sentiero \\u00e8 stretto fra la falesia a strapiombo di Castel Marino e il canale, in un disordine meraviglioso della vegetazione, fra arbusti selvatici e pini domestici: \\u00e8 veramente difficile capire dove finisce l\\u2019opera della natura e dove comincia quella dell\\u2019uomo. Quindi l\\u2019ambiente si apre di nuovo nella piana dei Cavalleggeri, un\\u2019altra \\u201csavana\\u201d, dove si trova un antico fontanile, oggi frequentata per\\u00f2 soprattutto dagli animali selvatici. Il nome deriva da quello dei soldati che per secoli hanno pattugliato questa costa da Livorno al confine dello Stato Pontificio.<\\\/p>\\r\\n&nbsp;\\r\\n<p>Giunti a una rotonda, con una breve variante si pu\\u00f2 salire alla torre di Collelungo per ammirare il panorama della pineta da una parte, e della lunghissima spiaggia dall\\u2019altra. Dalla stessa rotonda si pu\\u00f2 anche proseguire giungendo in breve alla spiaggia, oppure prendere subito lo stradello di Pinastrellaia, che in una pineta pi\\u00f9 aperta porta a Marina di Alberese, da dove si raggiunge rapidamente il punto di partenza.&nbsp;<\\\/p><p><\\\/p>\",\"en\":\"<p><span style=\\\"font-family: inherit;\\\">The entire route takes place on sandbars accumulated by the floods of the Ombrone river between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, which formed a plain where previously there was the sea.<\\\/span><br><\\\/p><p>The initial stretch winds through the pine forest planted by the Lorenas, in a spontaneous undergrowth of large mastic and juniper bushes that alternate with small grassy clearings. The environment is intimate and of great beauty, especially in the early hours of the morning when the light is low and the activity of the rich community of birds is at its maximum. At the bottom you can glimpse the side of the Uccellina hills at times, where you reach the turtle bridge. Here you cross the Scoglietto canal, dug at the time of reclamation and today transformed into a long, narrow swamp, teeming with life.<br>Here we set off in the direction of the sea, on land formed during the Renaissance, for a walk in time until the time of our grandparents, when the plain stopped advancing. After passing a gate, the path continues along the Scoglietto-Collelungo canal. On the left, the plain widens up to what was once a cliff overlooking the sea, today largely covered by Mediterranean vegetation and has become the home of many birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon. In front, however, is the wall of a limestone cliff with the Castel Marino tower on top. The plain is a \\\"serrata\\\", that is, a closed pasture, with large junipers and large pines scattered in the tall grass, similar to acacias: it looks like an African savannah, with Maremma instead of elephants and wildebeests.<\\\/p>\\r\\n<p>Continuing, the plain narrows and the path is narrow between the sheer cliff of Castel Marino and the canal, in a wonderful disorder of vegetation, between wild shrubs and domestic pines: it is truly difficult to understand where the work of nature ends and where that of man begins. style=\"font-family: inherit;\">The entire route takes place on sandbars accumulated by the floods of the Ombrone river between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries, which formed a plain where previously there was the sea.<\/span><br><\/p><p>The initial stretch winds through the pine forest planted by the Lorenas, in a spontaneous undergrowth of large mastic and juniper bushes that alternate with small grassy clearings. The environment is intimate and of great beauty, especially in the early hours of the morning when the light is low and the activity of the rich community of birds is at its maximum. At the bottom you can glimpse the side of the Uccellina hills at times, where you reach the turtle bridge. Here you cross the Scoglietto canal, dug at the time of reclamation and today transformed into a long, narrow swamp, teeming with life.<br>Here we set off in the direction of the sea, on land formed during the Renaissance, for a walk in time until the time of our grandparents, when the plain stopped advancing. After passing a gate, the path continues along the Scoglietto-Collelungo canal. On the left, the plain widens up to what was once a cliff overlooking the sea, today largely covered by Mediterranean vegetation and has become the home of many birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon. In front, however, is the wall of a limestone cliff with the Castel Marino tower on top. The plain is a \"serrata\", that is, a closed pasture, with large junipers and large pines scattered in the tall grass, similar to acacias: it looks like an African savannah, with Maremma instead of elephants and wildebeests.<\/p>\r\n<p>Continuing, the plain narrows and the path is narrow between the sheer cliff of Castel Marino and the canal, in a wonderful disorder of vegetation, between wild shrubs and domestic pines: it is truly difficult to understand where the work of nature ends and where that of man begins. Then the environment opens up again into the Cavalleggeri plain, another \"savanna\", where there is an ancient fountain, today frequented above all by wild animals. The name derives from that of the soldiers who for centuries patrolled this coast from Livorno to the border of the Papal State.<\/p>\r\n<p>Once you reach a roundabout, with a short variation you can go up to the Collelungo tower to admire the view of the pine forest on one side, and of the very long beach on the other.
